##On July 18, the Valencian public will have the opportunity to listen to the voice of Dulce Pontes in a concert that will take place in the Jardines de Viveros starting at 22h. The Portuguese singer has had an impressive 30 year career in music, where she has stood out as a great figure of contemporary fado, making this timeless genre important again on the world stage. In the music of Dulce Pontes, you can find Arabic, Brazilian, African and even Bulgarian influences, always combining them with the Portuguese tradition.

In fact, this singer who has also worked as a theatre and television actress, has recovered some of the most popular songs from Portugal. So much so, that the evolution of fado could not be understood without her. She is capable of bringing fado closer to the new generations…

The artist, born in the town of Montijo 50 years ago, will offer the best of her repertoire in this performance. In 1991, her career took off thanks to the song Lusitana Paixão with which won the RTP ‘Festival of Song’ and she was chosen by Portugal to represent her country in the Eurovision Song Contest. Her performance was one of the most outstanding and she finished in eighth place. On her second album, entitled ‘Lágrimas’, she focused on fado in Portugal and gave it an innovative air.

It was with the LP ‘O Primeiro Canto’ which introduced other rhythms outside of fado, becoming part of a musical style some call ‘World Music’. This genre seeks the integration of traditional styles with popular, ethnic, cultural music … in such a way that it is really difficult to categorize. Her latest album is called ‘Peregrinação’, a double CD.
