Michele Mariotti will conduct the Cor de la Generalitat and the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana in a concert featuring works by Fauré, Mozart, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and Poulenc on Saturday the 8th of February at the Palau de les Arts and Sunday the 9th at the Auditori de Castelló.
Born in Pesaro, he will be reunited with ‘Les Arts’ nine years after his celebrated debut in Valencia with Rossini’s opera ‘La Cenerentola’.
Winner of the Italian critics’ Abbiati Prize 2016, Michele Mariotti is currently one of the musicians from the transalpine country with the greatest international presence, with commitments in the main capitals of the opera circuit: New York, London, Milan, Vienna, Berlin and Paris.
For his presentation in the Auditori de Les Arts this Saturday at 7 pm, the Italian maestro has selected a programme with a first part that is entirely orchestral, with Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s ‘Meeresstille und glückliche Fahrt’ and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s ‘Haffner Symphony’ on the lectern.
After the break, Mariotti conducts the Cor de la Generalitat and the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana in two works that have never been performed before in the symphonic-choral repertoire of Les Arts: ‘Pavana’ by Gabriel Fauré and ‘Gloria’ by Francis Poulenc, with soprano Aida Gimeno from the Centre de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo as the soloist.
On Sunday the 9th of February at 7:30 pm, Michele Mariotti will conduct this same programme in the Auditori i Palau de Congresos de Castelló as part of the symphonic series that Les Arts is developing in the capital of La Plana in collaboration with the Institut Valencià de Cultura.
