The ‘Casino de Agricultura’ hosts an exhibition by AFAV that pays tribute to masterpieces of painting whose characters are represented by people with Alzheimer’s. The art and photography exhibition ‘A de Alzhéimer. A for Action’ can be visited until 27 September.
– Those interested persons can purchase the exhibited works, in exchange for a donation that will be used entirely to support the work of AFAV.
– It is the first activity of the annual campaign ‘Un Pósit por el Alzhéimer’, that AFAV organises every year on the occasion of World Alzheimer’s Day, a disease that already affects more than 1.2 million people in Spain.
Association of Relatives of Alzheimer’s Disease in Valencia (AFAV) is organising a solidarity exhibition of photographs at the ‘Casino de Agricultura de Valencia’, which pays tribute to great artists and works of art from the history of painting, whose characters are represented by people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The aim of this initiative is to give them visibility in a creative and intimate way, through paintings that are part of the culture and imagination. In addition, people can purchase the works on display, in exchange for a donation that will go to support which will be used to support the work of AFAV. The exhibition ‘A for Alzheimer’s’ can be visited until 27 September.
The inauguration of the exhibition marks the start of AFAV’s annual campaign ‘Un Pósit por el Alzhéimer’, which includes activities and initiatives on the occasion of World Alzheimer’s Day, 21 September. This year, the slogan is ‘A for Alzheimer’s. A for Action’, with the aim to inform, raise awareness and promote the commitment and involvement of society and citizens in improving the wellbeing and quality of life of people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and their families, through their families, through different projects in alliance. Alzheimer’s already affects more than 1.2 million people in Spain, including more than 50,000 in the Valencian Community.
Iván Álvarez de Toledo, vice-president of the Casino de Agricultura, has expressed the institution’s commitment to important social causes and in particular, the causes and, in particular, he highlighted the solidarity vocation of the entire Board of Directors towards raising awareness of illnesses such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, which significantly affect our society, without forgetting the constant support for any initiative that promotes awareness of prevention and health awareness. In this context, Álvarez de Toledo specifically acknowledged the work of AFAV (Alzheimer’s Family Association of Valencia) in promoting these causes.
This reflects the commitment of the Casino de Agricultura to its social environment, going beyond its traditional social environment, going beyond its traditional functions as a cultural and leisure institution and underlines the importance of collaboration between social institutions and specialised associations such as AFAV.
