‘LATINO BLANCO LATIN JAZZ QUINTET’ PLAYED MAR D’AMURA ON 22 DECEMBER (EXCLUSIVE PHOTOGRAPHIC REPORT)

What a concert! Indeed, the renowned ‘LATINO BLANCO LATIN JAZZ QUINTET’ played a superb set of Latin-Jazz music on December 22, at Mar d’Amura (Calle Progréso 159) to a packed and appreciative audience in the hip barrio of Cabanyal-Canyamelar.

As expected, the experienced head of the Sedajazz Collective Latino Blanco was a tasteful powerhouse on baritone saxophone! He was backed by the skilful Eva Català on drums and the impressive Kontxi Lorente on piano as well as a complementary double bass player too. They all proved to be solid anchors for this seamless show.

In addition, there were also guest spots for players taking to the stage for various numbers, including a lyrical saxophonist and fiery trumpet player! Last but not least, a charismatic Cuban singer led  the show on vocals and there was a standing ovation when she got the crowd dancing for the closing James Brown number, a very memorable and ‘feel good’ version (in English) of ‘I Got You.’

It was a really great gig from start to finish, there  was so much musicality and good vibes between the band and the audience that the evening turned electric. Indeed, everyone went home with a smile on their face. Many thanks to Shyamala for organising these regular monthly jazz events at Mar D’Amura in the dynamic barrio of Cabanyal-Canyamelar! Keep your eyes out for future gigs here in 2025!
