‘VISOR FEST 2025’ (VALENCIA) PREVIEW

‘VISOR FEST’  will take place on September 26 and 27 at the Marina Norte Auditorium of Valencia, featuring a lineup of bands that defined the ’80s and ’90s. Enjoy the laid-back spirit of ’90s festivals with full concerts, no overlaps (just one stage so you won’t miss a single show), spacious areas, and all of it paired with great food.

Friday, September 26: Happy Mondays, Ash, Buffalo Tom, Then Jerico, Alesa DJ, and Juan Vitoria DJ.

 Saturday, September 27: Peter Hook & The Light, The Lemonheads (performing Come On Feel The Lemonheads in full), Echobelly (celebrating their 30th anniversary), Chucho, Fri Britny, and Javier Santos.

Artist Highlights

Happy Mondays

Origin: Salford, England. Style: Alternative rock, Madchester, dance, psychedelia. Legacy: Icons of the Madchester movement alongside The Stone Roses. Key Albums: Bummed (1988), Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches (1990). Known for their chaotic, party vibe and iconic dancer Bez. Current: Still touring internationally in 2025, playing classics like “Step On” and “Kinky Afro.”

ASH

Origin: Northern Ireland (1992). Style: Power pop, melodic punk, indie rock. Legacy: Breakthrough with 1977 (1996), featuring “Girl From Mars” and “Kung Fu”. Evolution: Matured sound in Free All Angels (2001). Current: Still active with tours and new releases, celebrating over 30 years with full energy.

Buffalo Tom

Origin: Boston, USA (1987). Style: Indie rock, melodic grunge, Americana. Key Albums: Let Me Come Over (1992), Big Red Letter Day (1993). Current: Released their 10th album Jump Rope in 2024, still touring with original lineup.

Then Jerico

Origin: London, UK (1983). Style: Pop rock, new wave, techno-pop. Legacy: Success with The Big Area (1989), featuring anthem “Big Area”. Collaborations: Worked with Belinda Carlisle, toured internationally. Current: Mark Shaw leads the full-band comeback; released a 4-CD retrospective in 2024.

Alesa DJ

Origin: Alcoy, Spain. Style: Electronic, indie dance, italo disco, nu disco. Legacy: Versatile DJ with sets ranging from punk to soul; performed at Vida Festival, Sidecar, Sala El Sol, and Visor Fest. Current: Producing original tracks and touring underground venues.

Juan Vitoria DJ

Origin: Valencia, Spain. Legacy: Music critic, broadcaster, founder of Discos Amsterdam (1982), author of Discos Ocultos and Los 100 mejores discos del rock. Current: DJ at festivals and cultural events, hosts Los 39 sonidos, active music promoter.

Day 2 Highlights

Peter Hook & The Light

Origin: Manchester, UK. Legacy: Peter Hook was bassist for Joy Division and New Order; now performs Substance albums from both bands. Current: European tour in 2025 with shows in Valencia, Madrid, and Barcelona; band includes his son Jack Bates and Monaco members.

The Lemonheads

Origin: Boston, USA (1986). Style: Punk pop, college rock, indie. Legacy: Led by Evan Dando, success with It’s a Shame About Ray (1992); hits include “Into Your Arms” and “Mrs. Robinson”. Current: Releasing Love Chant in 2025, their first album in nearly 20 years; touring with full performance of Come On Feel The Lemonheads.

Echobelly

Origin: London, UK (1992). Style: Britpop, indie rock. Legacy: Fronted by Sonya Madan, success with Everyone’s Got One (1994) and On (1995); known for feminist lyrics and vibrant sound. Current: Celebrating 30 years of On with a special tour; latest album Anarchy and Alchemy (2017).

Chucho

Origin: Albacete, Spain (1996). Style: Indie rock, poetic soundscapes. Legacy: Project by Fernando Alfaro after Surfin’ Bichos. Key Albums: 78, Tejido de felicidad, Los años luz. Current: Released conceptual album Corazón Roto y Brillante in 2020 with accompanying book; reissuing 78 on vinyl in 2025.

Fri Britny

Origin: Spain (musical theatre). Legacy: Stage project by Cristina Subirats inspired by the #FreeBritney movement; blends classical verse theatr with feminist protest. Current: Performed at the Almagro International Classical Theater Festival; advocates for female autonomy through the figure of Britney Spears.

Javier Santos

Origin: Valencia, Spain. Legacy: Professional guitarist in musicals like Billy Elliot, Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar; also known for legal battle as alleged son of Julio Iglesias. Current: Lives in Valencia, works in music and hospitality; occasional DJ at electronic music events.
