The Spanish-Swiss band defines solar psych with ‘What if I Tried?’, the first single from their new album. The quintet, formed in Geneva in 2024 and led by Valencian musician Mario Peiró Espí, captures and distorts light, shaping a warm and nostalgic psychedelic pop that evolves between vaporous atmospheres and ever-sinuous melodic lines. ‘What if I Tried?’ is their first single: an ode to frustrated dreams and perseverance, staying within a genre-bending territory—the favorite of Sunday,June—where elements of alternative indie-rock, shoegaze, and, of course, psychedelia emerge.

‘Sunday, June’ is a Spanish-Swiss band born in 2024 from the introspection of Valencian musician Mario Peiró Espí, based in Geneva, who was soon joined by Antoine Chapel (keyboards and backing vocals), Audrey Croisier (guitar and backing vocals), Vincent Breza (bass), and Thomas Abbet (drums). Together, they shape a psychedelic pop that captures light at the same time it distorts it: a warm and nostalgic solar psych where melodies remain present without imposing themselves. Through vaporous textures, shimmering guitars, and a preference for the winding path over immediate results, they define songs that take their time to settle, breathe, and leave a mark.

With their 2025 debut album, Sun Glitter and Other Reflections, Sunday, June laid the groundwork for a rich, luminous, and deeply psychedelic sound, conceived largely in the intimacy of a home studio and driven by a genuine passion for experimentation. Critically acclaimed, the record took the band to stages across Switzerland and Europe, including the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival, Antigel Festival, Paris’s Supersonic, and most recently, Sicily’s Ypsigrock Festival. In all of them, they demonstrated that live, their songs expand, evolve, and envelop the audience in an almost hypnotic experience.

This coming autumn, Sunday,June will release their second album, Cinema, recorded at the legendary Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire (England), alongside renowned producer Andy Savours (My Bloody Valentine, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers). Composed collectively during several songwriting residencies in isolated natural environments, the album was recorded live with the entire band playing in the same room and without a click track, preserving the rawness, spontaneity, and energy of every performance. ‘What if I Tried?’ is their first single. An ode to frustrated dreams and perseverance that expands the band’s sonic palette, leaning closer to alternative indie-rock with subtle reminiscences of Arcade Fire, while remaining in a genre-bending territory where Sunday,June feels most at home.

Combining the raw sound of the beginning, the fine and glassy guitars of a nostalgic chorus with pop tints, and that progressively building outro, ‘What if I Tried?’ embraces a space where shoegaze and psychedelia shake hands. Furthermore, it brilliantly translates how life’s pressures stifle our dreams and hold us back, while simultaneously celebrating the struggle, the perseverance, and the courage to simply try.
