The Valencian artist Cristina Blasco brings Lusophone music and the sounds of saudade to the Palau de la Música in Valencia with the project ‘Cheiro da Lua’, a septet made up of musicians from the Valencian jazz scene. On the occasion of International Jazz Day, the group will give a concert on Saturday the 4th of May at 8:00 p.m at the Palau de la Musica.
‘Cheiro da Lua’ is an invitation to explore the cultural and sonorous diversity of Portuguese music and sound diversity of Lusophone music, in which the Portuguese language is the dominant voice and whose constellation of sounds follows the rhythms from Cape Verde to Brazil, from fado to Brazilian popular music, bossa nova, samba or morna, without losing the element of jazz, a sign of the identity of these musicians who are passionate about this joyful and rhythmic amalgam of sounds.
The septet led by the singer Cristina Blasco, known for her versatile facet as a jazz singer , is also made up of Lucas Ibáñez on guitar and Mikel Chiralt on guitar, Santiago Bertel on piano, Óscar Cuchillo on bass, Joan Muñoz on drums and David Gadea on percussion.
Together, in a live performance, these artists not only perform, but also establish an intimate dialogue with the audience and, on this occasion, they will also offer a musical journey with which they will defy frontiers and emotions.
Cristina Blasco is a Valencian artist, composer, performer and painter with more than 30 years of experience in which she has been involved with different musical projects and with other singers such as Óscar Briz, Ester Andújar, Pepa Blasco Andújar, Pepa Blasco and Arantxa Domínguez. She has covered a wide range of music from classical jazz to Caribbean rhythms, salsa, bossa nova, boleros, fados or French songs. She has formed part of groups such as the Sedajazz Big Band, Enjazts Big Band, La Sonora Latina, and has shared the stage with great artists such as such as Celia Cruz, Arturo Sandoval, Joao Bosco, Sheila Jordan, or Michael Mossman among many others.
