‘JIMMY GLASS’ CELEBRATES THE 13TH EDITION OF ITS INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY JAZZ FESTIVAL!

Valencia’s Jimmy Glass jazz club is hosting the 13th edition of its International Contemporary Jazz Festival, which will include performances by leading jazz musicians like Steve Coleman, Mary Halvorson, and Perico Sambeat. The festival will offer world-class jazz concerts over the span of more than a month and a half.

The festival’s Official Section kicks off this October 13 with headliner Steve Coleman & Five Elements, a group known for their improvisational and cutting-edge jazz. On October 16, Frank Zappa’s music will be the inspiration for saxophonist Perico Sambeat, who will direct another rendition of his acclaimed project. October 21 will have pianist James Francies as a special guest at saxophonist Patrick Cornelius’s New York Quartet. October 30 will finish the month by bringing Lawrence Clark Quintet, featuring Duane Eubanks, Theo Hill, Joris Teepe & Darrell Green.

However, November won’t fall short: On November 6, Saxophonist Vincent Herring’s group Soul Chemistry will feature Erena Terakubo, alongside Urs Hager, Ignasi González & Joris Dudli. November 14 will be led by Ramón Cardo & Cesc Adroher Trio, which will present their album Tan Lluny Enlloc, with Abel Boquera & Caspar St. Charles. On November 19, the bassist Or Bareket’s quartet will take the stage with Godwind Louis, Jeremy Corren and Savannah Harris. Performing on November 22 is Mary Halvorson’s Thumbscrew, one of the most anticipated acts of the festival. The trio, featuring Mary Halvorson, Michael Formanek & Tomas Fujiwara, is regarded as one of the most avant-garde groups in contemporary jazz. To conclude the Official Section, November 26 will host Seamus Blake and his quartet Ment4l.

Running alongside the official programme, the Off Festival will feature thirteen additional concerts with national and international musicians and ensembles, including Bruce Barth & Eri Yamamoto, Guillermo Celano, Gorka Benítez, Clara Juan Soler, Joan Saldaña, Adriano Tortora, Marc Miralta, Terra Ensemble, Kontxi Lorente, Song Ah Chae, Sebastián Laverde, Jeff Jerolamon, Pepi Taveira, Eva Catalá Brut & Nature, Deejay Foster, Georvis Pico, and many others.
