24/7 VALENCIA: COULD YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT ‘LES ARTS’?
PALAU DE LES ARTS: “Les Arts extends the cycle of previews for the under 29s with ‘Cavalleria rusticana’ and ‘Pagliacci’.
– Les Arts includes the operatic double bill that closes the opera season in view of the great reception of this initiative to promote opera among young people.
– On the 14th of April the Sala Principal will hold a new session of ‘Preestrena fins a 28’ with the zarzuela ‘El barberillo de Lavapiés’.
The Palau de les Arts is extending its cycle of previews for the under-29s with the double operatic programme ‘Cavalleria rusticana’ by Mascagni and ‘Pagliacci’ by Leoncavallo on the 20th of May, which closes the opera season in the Sala Principal.
Under the musical direction of Jordi Bernàcer, Les Arts offers the most representative diptych of Italian verismo, two essential works in the repertoire of the great theatres, in a stage production by Giancarlo del Monaco with Jorge de León, Sonia Ganassi, Ruth Iniesta and Misha Kiria in the main roles.
Les Arts thus responds to the excellent reception of ‘Preestrena fins a 28′, whose main purpose is to promote and disseminate opera among young people, as well as to facilitate their integration in Les Arts, with tickets at a single price of ten euros and with the exclusive reservation of the hall’s seating capacity for audiences up to 28 years of age.
Preestrena fins a 28’ was launched last season as part of ‘Les Arts és Per a Tots’, the line of programming dedicated to promoting the openness and accessibility of the theatre’s cultural offerings. The initiative enjoys a growing interest on the part of the under-29s, who, in recent editions, have sold out the tickets on sale for titles such as ‘Il viaggio a Reims’, ‘La Cenerentola’ and ‘Falstaff’.
Zarzuela will star in a new session of this activity at Les Arts on the 14th of April, with ‘El barberillo de Lavapiés’. Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez conducts the score by Asenjo Barbieri, which is performed in a staging by Alfredo Sanzol, with experienced singers such as the baritone Borja Quiza, the Valencian mezzo-soprano Sandra Ferrández and the Catalan soprano Maria Miró in the main roles.”
