Valencia, 2nd October 2024 – ‘Valencia and its surroundings’ is the title of the exhibition that the painter Fernando Tamarit has just inaugurated at the ‘Casino de Agricultura’ in the historic centre of Valencia. His works, in small formats, could be defined as impressionist photographs of landscapes of Valencia, recognisable to all, in a walk through different corners full of colour and traditional moments.

Valencia is a melting pot of traditions, landscapes, historical monuments, market gardens, typical costumes, flowers and the sea. Tamarit captures those places that we all keep in our minds, such as the Town Hall square with its flower stalls or its great fountain, the Marina of Valencia with its yachts and sailing boats, the Romanesque door of the Cathedral, the Church of San Martín, the Albufera, the pine forests and the sand of El Saler, the dunes or corners of Catarroja, Teresa, Rubielos de Mora or Alboraya. In all of them, the realism is patent, but the thick strokes and the blurred backgrounds give them that subtle and suggestive impressionist touch.

Fernando Tamarit has spent a lifetime dedicated to painting and has participated in more than 40 exhibitions, both individual and collective, in the province of Valencia. His works have been selected for the auctions of the Círculo de Bellas Artes, Galería Fine Art and Bancarte-Bancaja, in Valencia. He appears in the dictionary of Valencian Artists of the 20th Century, by Francisco Agramunt Lacruz.

The Real Sociedad Valenciana de Agricultura y Deportes, better known as the Casino de Agricultura, is located in an emblematic building in the centre of the city.
