LAURA BOLEA wins First Prize in the 5th Valencian ‘Titaina’ Tournament at ‘Mi Cub’. In Mercado Colón, ‘Mi Cub’ presented several traditional dishes cooked by women from Cabanyal, in a competition to decide which recipe would be used by local restaurants in the upcoming season. Food journalists were invited into ‘Mi Cub’ to mingle with one another, have drinks, and hear from journalist Boro Peiró.
All guests then had the opportunity to taste each dish and vote for their favorite. Laura Bolea’s recipe won with the best overall taste among all the ‘judges’, but Carmen Lacomba, Teresa Crespo, and Misa Crespo offered highly competitive and delicious alternative dishes at the tournament. The dishes are a traditional Valencian recipe, with fish, tomatoes, green peppers, garlic, onions, and olive oil. Each dish tasted slightly different, with hints of varying flavours and ingredients.
Mercado Colón is filled with several local cafes, restaurants, and vendors, and is one of the most beautiful architectural buildings in Valencia. The market’s open concept allows natural light and colour to shine and reflect throughout the day. At ‘Mi Cub’, the restaurant honours heritage and tradition, and offering a traditional Valencian recipe each season highlights these values.
