##24/7 Valencia were honoured to be invited to this special event. This week saw the presentation of #CelestialSIN range of ‘Birra & Blues’. This is the first range of non-alcoholic craft beers on the Spanish Craft beer scene.
Still hungover with the award of their Celestial Sin IPA in the Barcelona Beer Challenge, ‘Birra & Blues’ presented their new beers to the media in ‘Las cervezas del mercado de Bierwinkel’ in the iconic ‘Mercado de Colón’ building. Cristina Sáez McFly told us about the individual qualities of #Helles, #HoppyLager, #Ipa, #BrownAle and #PastryStout. The Valencian brewery will make the lovers of good “craft beer” enjoy five new styles (Ipa, Pastry Stout, Brown Ale, Helles, Hoppy Lager) with less than 0.5% Alc. Vol and with only 66 kcal per bottle. There’s also a sleek can option. It’s all been thought out.
David Fra of Birra & Blues: “A pleasure to see on the blackboard of the venue the 5 kegs all on tap at the same time. Thanks also to Bierwinkel for joining us in this adventure. By the way, these new beers can also be enjoyed as”#Latas” (cans) …as they will also be available in this format. It was clear to us that non-alcoholic beer is here to stay. We detected the consumer’s constant concern for health and decided to get ahead of the curve. In fact, the global growth forecast for the non-alcoholic beer market is 7% and the global non-alcoholic beer industry will represent 5% of the market share in the next five years”.
Bierwinkel distributes Birra and Blues since, driven by a passion for authentic beer and good music, they decided to brew craft beer in 2011. Today they are the second in the Valencian Community and in their constant commitment to innovation they have created and achieved a range of non-alcoholic beers with the best raw materials and natural fermentation. It is the only Spanish craft brewery that offers 5 different styles of non-alcoholic beers.
Celestial Sin IPA, has just won the Bronze Medal at the Barcelona Beer Challenge that has just been held last weekend and has already won the Gold Medal at the International Competition in Lyon this year and in the last edition won the prize for Innovation of the Craft Awards of the Valencian Community. This Ipa has an IBU 30 and the hops are Simcoe and Mosaic. Its ingredients are Water, Barley Malt, Oats, Hops and Yeast. With East Kent Golding hops, the ‘Brown Ale’ has the same composition as the Ipa, but an IBU of 15. The ‘Helles’ also has the same composition as the previous ones, with an IBU of 12 and the hops are Saaz. The ‘Pastry Stout’ adds natural aromas of cocoa, vanilla and caramel to the water and barley malt. With a 15 IBU, the hops are East Kent Golding. Finally, ‘Hoppy Lager’, has the same composition as most of the celestials, only its hops are Saaz and Simcoe and the IBU is 12.
For the CEO of Bierwinkel, Christian Jardel, it will be a milestone for Valencian craft beers, which from its distribution company, have always supported but that, because of its high knowledge of European breweries, “the development of craft beer without alcohol in our country was a pending subject, until very recently we could not find quality craft beers without alcohol, we are in full change and evolution, we believe that we must support the one who gets it because it will capture a good part of the market as there is a great demand.”
In 2002 Bierwinkel created its own Finest Beers Selection, joining forces, expertise and guarantees of expansion with Belgian brewer John Martin, SA. In 2010, the German brewery Dinkelacker, Sanwald and the Belgian breweries Huyghe, Bosteels and Belgoo Beer joined the company, a few years later the brewers Het Anker and Chimay with the aim of consolidating and expanding this unique and select Joint Venture brewery for Spain. Likewise, they work intensively in the introduction and commercialization of craft beers from the Valencian Community. A good example has been the development and implementation in the last year of the Valencian Craft Beer concept.
