Established in 1991, this distinctive jazz venue holds the distinction of being the oldest active jazz club in the Valencia Community. With its unique ambience, dedicated commitment to jazz music free from commercial clichés, and a strong focus on avant-garde performances, it has earned a stellar reputation among music enthusiasts. According to DOWNBEAT magazine, it is recognized as one of the most elite jazz clubs in the world! There is no doubt that Jimmy Glass Jazz Bar is one of Valencia’s must-visit venues. Now, it gives a grand opportunity for its guests to partake in a special event full of top-quality jazz sounds and a fantastic atmosphere.
From the 11th of October to the 5th of December, you can join the Jimmy Glass as it celebrates the twelfth edition of its International Contemporary Jazz Festival by presenting a remarkable lineup of jazz figures. Groups of different origins, both from the United States and Europe (including the Valencian Community), come to the festival to present the sound of true international jazz. This event exemplifies the club’s international acclaim and unquestionable commitment to showcasing exceptional talent. It consists of eleven concerts in the official section and nineteen in its Off Festival section.
The official section will open with the well-known Parisian saxophonist and composer Jerome Sabbagh, who will present his most recent project Vintage (Sunnyside Records). Then on the 17th, we will be able to hear Jerry Bergonzi from Boston, who is considered one of the most influential and important figures in contemporary jazz. On the 19th, Perico Sambeat presents his latest album, Roneando, alongside some of the finest musicians in the country, with whom he has collaborated extensively over the years.
In November, the lineup kicks off with the Rembrandt Trio on the 6th. This group from the Netherlands gained international recognition for its artistic curiosity and innovative sounds. On the 20th, we will grace our ears with music by saxophonist Grant Stewart and trumpeter Jim Rotondi – two leading jazz musicians of recent decades. On the 22nd of the same week, Tony Malaby, recognized by the New York Times as one of “the best saxophonists of his generation,” will join forces with The Dave Gisler Trio for a captivating performance of atmospherically dense sound. Finally, the brilliant Argentinian pianist Sebastián Chames and the outstanding American saxophonist JD Allen will offer a preview of their fresh project on the 24th.
