The Valencian company Helados Estiu, a supplier to Mercadona, closes the 2024 fiscal year with sales of 45 million liters of ice cream and a turnover of nearly €150 million. Profit was €8.8 million, and staff increased by 8%. Investments have been close to €7 million, consolidating investments of more than €43 million over the last five years. The investment forecast for the next three years is €26 million. The Valencian ice cream company now exports to more than 35 countries, thanks to the innovation and quality of its products.
Despite being located in Ribarroja del Turia and Cheste and therefore affected by LA DANA, the company only suffered material losses. All its employees were able to return to work within a few days, and it continued to offer ice cream to its customers at all times.
“It was very hard for everyone, but it’s in those moments that you have to be very clear about how to act and remain calm,” explains Maria José Félix, the company’s general manager. She adds: “People came first, so serving all the workers was the immediate objective. The next priority was to continue serving customers, and then everything else came about too. The Cheste factory was the one that was affected. On the one hand, water didn’t enter both the cold storage rooms and the factory because they are built at a height. However, facilities, access, and infrastructure were affected and we have been working on solutions.”
The Valencian ice cream company continues its commitment to environmental sustainability, with action plans aimed at decarbonization, improving circularity, and optimizing resource use. It maintains a constant effort in training, with its virtual classroom. The ongoing training of all professionals working at Helados Estiu is essential to achieving the proposed goals. In this sense, having access to EDEM, a school for entrepreneurs and managers, is an important support for this essential training and serves as a “pool of talent,” which represents an advantage and value for the company.
Helados Estiu is clearly committed to maintaining sustainable economic, environmental, social, and good governance growth.
Among the Valencian company’s goals are achieving a positive impact, becoming increasingly sustainable, and remembering to be responsible by acting ethically and humanely, thus achieving greater prosperity, wealth, innovation, and progress for all.
At the same time, it actively participates in various ways, helping to increase entrepreneurship, innovation, and the improvement of society as a whole through ETNOR, ADEIT, and the LAB Mediterráneo Foundation, as well as initiatives such as KMZERO, which generates an ecosystem of collaboration between corporations, startups , and investors, addressing global issues in the food industry that impact society as a whole, both locally and globally.
