El Corte Inglés’ Seasonal Flavors Km0 will feature Valencian Citrus fruits, which will be the stars until November 30 in the cafeterias and GastroMercats of El Corte Inglés in the Valencian Community. The Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) for Valencian Citrus Fruits is a quality designation managed by its Regulatory Council, made up of fifteen members representing all sectors of the Valencian Community’s citrus industry. It is the entity that certifies citrus fruits (oranges, mandarins, and lemons) grown in the Valencian Community that meet all the required standards, both in terms of origin and quality. The PGI has two main objectives: certification and promotion of Valencian Citrus Fruits.
Valencian mussels, Alboraya tiger nuts, Alcalá de Xivert hanging tomatoes, Vinalopó grapes, Ribera del Xúquer persimmons, El Toro black truffles, Benicarló artichokes, Callosa d’en Sarrià loquats, Muchamiel tomatoes, and now, Valencian Citrus Fruits, have all participated in this promotion, which aims to highlight our local products. Chef Raúl Magraner of the Bon Aire restaurant in El Palmar has been commissioned to create this month’s featured dish: “Valencian Paella with Orange.” This dish will be added to the menu at El Corte Inglés cafeterias and GastroMercats in the Valencian Community, perfectly paired with the Miracle nº5 rosé wine from Bodegas Vicente Gandía.
In this way, the El Corte Inglés Seasonal Flavors Km 0 initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Inboga gastronomic guide, celebrates this high-quality, sweet-tasting product, rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. Furthermore, all El Corte Inglés supermarkets in the Valencian Community will offer this Protected Geographical Indication product in their fruit and vegetable sections.
