This was an ‘esmorzar’ (brunch) to remember at the award-winning restaurant ‘Casa Baldo 1915’ in the centre of Valencia. Established in 1915, Casa Baldo presented their ‘Esmorzar de Reis’ which brought together the press, foodies and gastronomic prescribers in an experience that celebrated the best of Valencia tradition of eating favourite pastries, tapas and savouring their second ‘Cacau d’Or’ prize for their award-winning brunch sandwich.
The morning started with executive chef, Pablo Margós, welcoming the attendees with a show cooking of the two most important dishes of the evening: the Bravas (winners of the BravasFest Valencia) and the ‘Bocata’ that was awarded the second Cacau d’Or. In case you still haven’t heard about the ingredients, take note: Iberian sobrasada omelette, free-range chicken cooked at low temperature, brie cheese and a touch of orange blossom honey aioli. Now that’s what you call ‘mel de romer’! Well, orange blossom honey!
The finishing touch? Four ‘Dulces Martín donuts’ (how could they be missing?) that hid a great little treasure: a ‘Cacau d’Or’. The lucky ones who discovered it in their portion won a Valencian paella master class with Pablo Margós. Ara vas i te’l perds.
With a warm interior , quality cuisine and loved by locals… ‘Casa Baldo 1915’ is very easy to find as it is pretty near to Plaza Ayuntamiento and the bullring too.
