Ruzafa is well-known for being one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Valencia. With a diverse culinary scene, beautiful centuries-old architecture, and a large central park, it offers something for people of all ages. It is part of the Ensanche district and located just south of the historic centre of town. Ruzafa is filled with rich history. Until 1877, it was a separate town from Valencia and was located outside of the city walls. It was historically a working-class neighborhood and has an industrial past. The streets are lined with beautiful buildings and reminders of how the area has grown over the past 150 years too. In the last two decades, the neighbourhood has skyrocketed in popularity and has seen an influx of artists, entrepreneurs, and young professionals move in and establish hangouts.

The area is filled with trendy cafes, restaurants, bars, and public spaces. It is also one of the most diverse parts of town, with a mix of newcomers and longtime residents. The barrio is also extremely family friendly. Located between Ruzafa and Malilla, Parque Central is a green space that takes up over 100,000 square metres of land. It is a great park for children, pets, or for anybody looking to get away from the city. The park includes fountains, a children’s area, a climbing wall, and a gated area for dogs.

Ruzafa market is also a must-see in the area. The building features stunning brutalist architecture and a colorful gradient on each side. It’s a great spot to buy fresh produce, fish, spices, meat, and other necessities from locals. Ruzafa is loved by many for a reason, and it does not take long to see why. The abundance of things to do, places to eat, and activities for all ages solidifies its place as one of the coolest neighborhoods in Valencia.
