Cuban saxophonist, Alexey León, presents his fourth album this Thursday at ‘Jimmy Glass Jazz Bar’ by bringing together an impressive group of international musicians. With intense melodies and contemporary musical language, the event pays homage to the Afro-Cuban jazz tradition and the pioneers of Latin Jazz. Symbolising León’s evolution, the music reflects something significant in the artist’s life and career- the incessant search for his identity both personally and musically. Jimmy Glass Jazz Bar is a trendy, authentic, urban jazz club that has been around since 1991. Hosting an array of international artists, Jimmy Glass stays up to date on the musical landscape here in Valencia and provides its guests with an eclectic mix of music ranging from emerging musical artists to those more developed and established artists on the international jazz scene.
The music on the album, ‘Influenciado’, is effortlessly performed by the musicians which include Alexey León himself on alto saxophone, Carlos Sarduy on the trumpet, Carl Winther on piano, Reinier Elizarde “Negrón” on double bass and the quintet is completed by Marc Miralta on the drums. Indeed, Carlos Sarduy was the trumpet player for the globally renowned and award-winning band ‘Ojos de Brujo.’
There will be two sessions on Thursday 9th March: the first taking place at 20:30h and the second at 22:30h each with varying musical repertoires. Entry to the first session costs €18 or if you can’t get enough jazz music and fancy extending your night of music, it is €26 for both shows. During the second session at 22:30h there will also be a dining option.
Deeply rooted in Cuban music as well as contemporary jazz more generally, the joyousness of the music will convey the exuberant energy of the two sources of inspiration and leave your toes tapping long after leaving the venue! Reserve your tickets now by emailing reservasjimmyglass@gmail.com.
