Alejandra Herrador and Emanuel Carlucci’s restaurant is ranked number 11 in the publication, consolidating its position as one of the great gastronomic references of the Valencian Community. After almost ten years of evolution, Atalaya continues to reap success and reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, wellbeing and Mediterranean haute cuisine.
Atalaya (1* Michelin, 2 Soles Repsol) continues to add recognition to its trajectory. The home of Alejandra Herrador and Emanuel Carlucci, located in Alcossebre (Castellón), ranks 11th in the ranking of the 14 best restaurants in the Valencian Community of the prestigious Macarfi Guide 2025. The TOP 10/15 of each Autonomous Community were unveiled last Monday, 17th February, during the gala held in the Sala La Paloma, in Barcelona, which brought together numerous personalities from the sector.
This was the tenth anniversary of this prestigious gastronomic publication. The event, presented by the comedian Carlos Latre, attracted a multitude of personalities from the business world and great figures from the national cuisine, such as Joan Roca (El Celler de Can Roca), Sergio and Javier Torres (Torres Brothers Kitchen), Eduard Xatruch (Disfrutar), Esther Manzano (Casa Marcial), Rafa Zafra (Estimar), Jesús Sánchez (Cenador de Amós), Elena Arzak (arzak), Pedrito Sánchez (Bagá), José Luis García (El Celler de Can Roca), José Luis García (El Celler de Can Roca), José Luis García (El Celler de Can Roca) and José Luis García (El Celler de Can Roca).

For Herrador and Carlucci, this new recognition is the reflection of many years of effort, and also a shared milestone for the whole territory of Castellón, which is at a great gastronomic moment. “Entering the Macarfi TOP 14 is a recognition of our way of understanding cuisine: a balance between creativity, respect for the environment and the well-being of those around us, including the team and our family. It is a further step in the journey we embarked on ten years ago,” say the chefs.
The unstoppable evolution of Atalaya
Since its beginnings in 2015, when Atalaya opened its doors with modesty but immense enthusiasm, the restaurant has undergone a constant evolution. Over the course of a decade, its cuisine has been perfected to become a gastronomic proposal that is ever closer to the sea. In addition to this, careful attention to the diner, based on hospitality and attention to detail, key aspects of the restaurant’s philosophy. Both the achievement of the Michelin Star in 2022, as well as the consolidation of the second Sol Repsol in 2024, reaffirmed this great moment.
In recent times, the restaurant has also undergone several refurbishments that have made the dining room more elegant and opened up the kitchen to the dining room, offering a more intimate experience. At the same time, Atalaya’s trajectory has been enriched through various collaborations with other restaurants, presentations, competitions and even the opening of Vermuda, its second concept in Alcossebre, of a much more informal nature.
An increasingly important gala
The Macarfi 2025 Gala is a key event in the restaurant sector, which has already established itself as a benchmark event on the culinary circuit in Spain. During the evening, as well as announcing the TOP10/15 in each geographical area, the ‘Rookie of the Year’ awards were presented, which distinguish the best openings of 2024. The inclusion of Atalaya in this prestigious list reinforces its position within the national gastronomic scene and recognises the work of a team that has managed to maintain its identity over the years.
“We have grown a lot and now we want to enjoy everything we have achieved, without losing sight of our path. This is a long-term journey, where the important thing is to continue to evolve from peace and stability,” concludes Herrador, whose discourse always focuses on balance, wellbeing and sustainability, without renouncing the highest standards.
