The Haute Couture collection was inspired by the beauty of special moments, in particular the visual wonder that is the Northern Lights. ‘Costura Boreal’ is the name of the high fashion collection presented by Valencian designer Carlos Haro at Mediterranean Fashion Week (MFW). The fashion show in Valencia, promoted by the ACUMOVA (Association for the Promotion of Valencian Fashion and Culture), held its 2022 edition from 28th to the 30th of October at the Hotel Las Arenas.
If the northern lights are one of the most amazing spectacles of nature, Carlos Haro recreates this magical moment of visual fantasy and aesthetic ecstasy to design a collection inspired by the beauty of special moments. Those moments when a woman dreams, perhaps since she was a child, of a unique piece of clothing.
On the catwalk, the models of the official casting of the MFW, have paraded with a whole range of items from the high fashion feminine line, dedicated to a confident woman, excited to shine her own light. Dresses of vibrant red and deep greens are inspired by those marvellous beams of light, resulting from the collision of the electric particles of the solar wind with the earth’s magnetic fields.
The collection is a unique, deliberately exuberant light, with a Parisian air and Mediterranean flavour, in which Carlos Haro reaffirms his personal philosophy of ‘signature fashion’, with proposals free of passing dictatorships and an openness to creative freedom.
The line of the collection gives great prominence to volumes, a hallmark of the house’s identity. The patterning of each piece is a contrast of smooth and textured surfaces, using circular pieces with a volatile tendency, in red, bougainvillea, French pink, grass green, black and mink. In addition to this, it also includes details of handmade appliqués, crystal, sequin, manipulated in 3D and embroidery in fabrics such as silk mikado, silk crepe, organza and tulle.
The pencil style skirts, long with volume or short with tails, combined with plunging, halter or asymmetrical necklines, enhance the feminine figure as is usual in the designer’s style.
In short, ‘Costura Boreal’ is a collection that has not left the public feeling indifferent, it has been an unforgettable moment for all who were able to witness it.
“The aim of this collection, according to the designer, is to capture the sensations and experiences learned through 30 years of work dedicated to fashion in general, and tailor-made couture in particular, sharing the dreams and illusions of women who decided to celebrate life with a special design.”
Having won awards in numerous fashion competitions, Carlos Haro has presented his collections at the Cibeles Madrid Novias catwalk, at Novia España – Barcelona Bridal Week and at the Valencia Fashion Week. He has also made many other international contributions, such as his work for Swarovski, or his collection inspired by the signature porcelain of Lladró, presented in countries such as the USA, UK, Russia, China, France, Italy and Germany.
