In a heartfelt demonstration of solidarity, Valencia’s Casino de Agricultura has raised €29,650 to support victims of Dana. The funds, collected through a series of engaging community events, will be distributed by Cáritas Diocesana and Solidaridad sobre Ruedas to help families recover from the October 29 tragedy.

Over the past 20 days, the Casino organized an impressive array of activities, including art auctions, Canasta and Bridge tournaments, and a charitable clothing drive. A standout initiative was an art exhibition and auction held from November 27 to December 5, orchestrated by the Fundación el Secreto de la Filantropía and the Asociación de Anticuarios de la Comunidad Valenciana. Featuring works from renowned artists like Valdés and José Morea, alongside 17th-century ceramics and collectibles, the auction attracted over 100 attendees. Nearly every piece was sold, underscoring the community’s enthusiasm and generosity.

Long-standing traditions also played a pivotal role in the fundraising efforts. Canasta and Bridge, staples at the Casino since the mid-20th century, were the focus of three special tournaments involving over 200 members. These events not only honoured the Casino’s heritage but also rallied its community for a critical cause.

Meanwhile, El Trébol, one of the Casino’s gastronomic clubs, organized a clothing drive. Proceeds from the sale of donated items funded appliance purchases for two affected families, with additional contributions directed toward restoring mobility for those who lost vehicles in the disaster.

With a legacy spanning 165 years, the Casino de Agricultura continues to be a pillar of Valencia’s cultural, social, and philanthropic life. Under the leadership of President Manuel Sánchez Luengo, it exemplifies how tradition and innovation can unite to inspire meaningful change.
