A sophisticated twist on the classic Argentine bodega, Bataraza is an authentic eatery claiming to preserve the truly authentic aspects of Argentine food houses, whilst elevating the quality and service to an ‘avant-garde’ level. Located in the Ciutat Vella district, on Calle del Hospital opposite the MUVIM gardens, Bataraza opened in November 2023 and has been sharing their authentic gastronomic delights with the public ever since.
Bataraza hosted a press culinary experience last week which combined, “the passion for Argentine food with the warmth and hospitality of Valencia.” Owners Felipe Mendiguren and Ariel Petitto shared traditional dishes, house cocktails and Argentine wines with their families and press. Guests were able to enjoy the authentic and high quality dining experience, tasting a plethora of items off of the unique menu including the cheese and onion empanadas and beef sausage Milaneses. In typical Argentine style, the guests then participated in a game to guess the names and ingredients of the dishes.
Bataraza describe themselves as a restaurant that simultaneously provides a homely yet gourmet atmosphere, with a mission to reconnect Argentinians to their roots and for non-Argentinian’s to discover Argentine customs and traditions. They achieve this with the aid of Damián Giammarino, a renowned chef who has been developing his career in Buenos Aires and Valencia. With Damián’s gastronomic expertise, you can enjoy dishes such as Chorizo Criollo, Raviolesde Verdura, Gramajo Scramble, smoked trout and Matambre.
