The female figure, colour, Japanese gastronomy and a mixture of graphic styles are the elements that come together to allow the illustrator Hugo Giner to create visual stories that awaken the imagination of the spectator. His exhibition ‘Otros Mundos’ (Other Worlds) has just opened at ‘Las Cervezas del Mercado de Colón’ and will remain until April.
Hugo Giner manages to create a unique exhibition in the heart of the Mercado de Colón that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the depths of his particular creative exercise. Through his illustrations, he manages to turn the female figure into a narrative vehicle that leads to the exploration of stories and visual metaphors that create a link between the spectator and the author.
The graphic styles range from the most detailed to the most detailed in order to play with expressive possibilities. For Giner “this project in Valencia is not only an exercise, but also a motivation for the unique space in which to experiment, learn and, above all, to continue creating visual stories”.
Hugo Giner was born in Ondara and trained at the School of Art and Design in Alcoy and at the ‘Mary Ward Art Centre’ school in London, as well as taking various courses on screen printing and design. He has had around twenty exhibitions in different places along the Marina, such as in the Casas de la Cultura in Denia, Ondara or Els Poblets, as well as in the Balearia Foundation or in different galleries in Gata or Jesús Pobre. He has worked as a freelance designer, but since 2013 he has had his own graphic design studio.
