Valencia’s vibrant jazz scene welcomes a compelling new voice this October: the Karles Pérez Sextet, a dynamic ensemble led by drummer and composer Karles Pérez. The group will present “Scarpetta”, a deeply personal project inspired by the timeless energy of hard bop from the 1960s and 1990s. With echoes of Roy Hargrove, Cedar Walton, Benny Golson, Ralph Peterson, and Jeff “Tain” Watts, the Karles Pérez Sextet blends tradition and innovation in a repertoire that speaks to life’s transitions, friendships, and the joy of artistic collaboration.

“Creating this album has been like soaking up the last drop of a delicious dish with a good piece of bread,” says Pérez. “That’s the idea behind Scarpetta — a musical expression of savouring life’s moments, just like the Italians say: Fare la Scarpetta.”
