‘LA MOSTRA FILM FESTIVAL’ IN VALENCIA (24 OCTOBER – 3 NOVEMBER)

La Mostra Film Festival is back in 2024, from 24 October to 3 November. This festival, founded in 1980, was created with a mission to centralize Mediterranean film production. Over the years, it became a cultural cornerstone in the region. Mostra de València – Cinema del Mediterrani is a film festival that takes place in València and focuses on the audiovisual production of the Mediterranean geographical and cultural field. The vision is to create a long-lasting cultural project that firmly establishes the significance of cultural events for the city. This festival is not just for cinema experts; it is for everyone who loves the art of film. It serves as a meeting point for both the audience and creators, offering a meticulously curated programme that showcases high-quality films not typically found in mainstream theatres.

This year’s selection will show diverse films in original version such as:

ALGIERS: The kidnapping of a young girl causes great social tension in the city of Algiers. Despite their initial differences, a brilliant psychiatrist and a police inspector try to work together to unravel the case.

FOTOGENICO:  A man travels to Marseilles to find out the reasons for his daughter’s death. Once there, he discovers many things about her that he didn’t know, such as the fact that she was part of a female rock band with which she recorded an album.

THE LIFE APART: In the 1980s, in the heart of a well-to-do family, a young woman who suffers profound rejection because of a birthmark on her face discovers her way of expressing herself in the world through music.

MOONDOVE: The harvest is over, but a particularly severe drought is causing water problems in the village. Every season, a play is performed in the village, and this year’s play is entitled ‘Departures’.

THAT’S IT FOR TODAY: The relationships between three siblings over the course of two summer weeks, during which time seems to stand still. Apparently ordinary days become extraordinary, and happiness takes over naturally.

And many more films subtitled in Spanish and English!

So, mark your calendars for the 10 days of Mostra de València – Cinema del Mediterrani, where the beauty and depth of Mediterranean cinema come to life. You simply cannot miss out on this cinematic journey that celebrates the essence of the Mediterranean region.
