Langoustine from Vinaròs will be the star until 1 June in El Corte Inglés, thanks to the “Sabors de Temporada Km 0” campaign, which uses a recipe to promote a local product in the middle of the season, prepared by a prestigious chef. The campaign was presented this week at the GastroMercat de Colón, in the presence of the mayoress of the city of Castellón, Dolores Miralles, and representatives of Vinaròs Gastronòmic and the Fishermen’s Guild.
Valencian Clóchina, Tigernut from Alboraya, Tomato from Penjar d’Alcalá de Xivert, Citrus from the Valencia Region, Grapes from Vinalopó, Persimmon from Ribera del Xúquer, Black Truffle from El Toro, Carxofa from Benicarló, Loquat from Callosa d’en Sarrià, and now, the Langostino de Vinaròs, have already taken part in this promotion which aims to promote our local products and underline the commitment of El Corte Inglés to local products at the height of the season.
The chefs Ángel Prados and Agustí Marcos from the Associació Vinaròs Gastronòmic, have been in charge of preparing the recipe for the dish with the product of the month: “Langostino de Vinaròs, celeriac and spiced pickle”, which the GastroMercat of El Corte Inglés Colón, the GastroMercat of El Corte Inglés Maisonnave, and the Cafeterias of El Corte Inglés Avenida de Francia, Nuevo Centro, Federico Soto and El Corte Inglés Castellón, will add to their gastronomic offer, with a perfect pairing, in this case the Privée 18 Brut Nature Reserva cava from Bodegas Vegamar.
In this way, Sabors de Temporada Km 0 El Corte Inglés, which is carried out with the collaboration of the Inboga gastronomic agenda, extols the star product of the gastronomy of Vinaròs and an emblem of the city. In addition, all El Corte Inglés supermarkets in the Valencian Community will be selling Langostino de Vinaròs in their fishmongers, a quality product that is fully established in Spanish haute cuisine.
About the Vinaròs king prawns
The king prawns are well known for their quality and texture, which is different from the rest of the Mediterranean coast due to the low salinity of the coastal waters and the mild, temperate climate throughout the year. They are caught every day by the fishing fleet, which then supplies the market itself. These prawns can reach a size of up to 20 cm in large specimens, as well as being very thick. Their colour is between pinkish and brownish, with a series of transversal bands on their abdomen. As for its flavour, it can be said that it is one of the tastiest prawns and the delicacy of its flavour is due to the richness of the food in the waters of this coast, enriched by the deposits of the river Ebro.
About the Vinaròs Gastronòmic Association
The Vinaròs Gastronòmic Association was created with the aim of giving new impetus to the sector and positioning the municipality as a benchmark in the region. Vinaròs Gastronòmic is made up of around twenty restaurants with the aim of promoting the sector and working to make Vinaròs a gastronomic reference point in the region with avant-garde cuisine always accompanied by the star product, the Vinaròs prawn.
About Bodegas Vegamar
The Vegamar winery was founded in 1999 as a family winery located in Calles (Valencia), 65km from the sea and at an altitude of over 600m, which allows us to produce wines that transmit the essence of the mountains, their flavour and aroma, and the Mediterranean of the upper Turia. Their Privée 18 Brut Nature is a straw yellow cava with a steely rim, bright, fine, crisp bubbles and persistent foam, with intense aromas of ripe white fruit and light floral notes. As for the taste, it is fresh in the mouth, with a very well integrated acidity leaving a long and harmonious aftertaste.
