SPINOLOGY IN VALENCIA WITH EXPERT JOHNNY WEHBE OF ‘SPINE TEMPLE’ (EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW)

24/7 VALENCIA: What is Spinology?

JOHNNY WEHBE OF SPINE TEMPLE: Spinology is a vitalistic profession dedicated to the full expression of human potential. Encompassing specific techniques to unlock the body’s innate potential through spinal checks and alignment. It champions harmony, balance and optimal functionality. By aligning the spine, we unlock the gateway to fully express our human performance, fostering enhanced vitality and refining body chemistry, transcending into every facet of our lives!

What sorts of patients and problems do you deal with?

At Spine Temple and the Spinology Centre, we serve a wide range of individuals in our community, from babies to the elderly. Our practice isn’t limited to those with specific ailments—our focus is on helping people live to their fullest potential, regardless of age or health condition. Spinology is not just for those seeking relief from discomfort. It is for anyone who wants to enhance their overall well-being and live life with greater vitality.

While many practice members come to us with various physical issues, it’s important to clarify that we don’t diagnose, treat, or try to heal specific conditions. Instead, our role is to ensure that the body is free from interference, particularly in the spine, so it can function at 100% of its natural potential. By creating an interference-free environment, the body’s ability to communicate and perform is greatly improved, allowing it to express itself fully—whether that’s in sports, work, or even during rest.

Ultimately, Spinology supports individuals in optimizing their physical potential, helping them experience better balance, energy, and overall function in their daily lives.

Any interesting success stories?

When I opened my practice in the UK, I worked with a wide range of individuals, many of whom were entire families. While I’ve had the privilege of helping high-level performers like stunt professionals, Cirque du Soleil artists, mountaineers, and professional rugby players, much of my practice is dedicated to working with people from all walks of life, including children. I believe that working with young spines is particularly important, as it helps promote spinal health early on, setting children up for a lifetime of well-being.

Among the athletes I’ve worked with, many saw great benefits in their recovery, physical function, and performance by addressing spinal interferences. Some rugby players, for instance, were dealing with the lingering effects of concussions, with one individual even having to retire from the sport at the age of 23. These athletes had tried many therapies without finding relief, but through our work, they were able to create an environment where their bodies could function more effectively. While I never guarantee specific outcomes, in these cases, the results were incredibly positive and life-changing for those involved.

However, my work is not limited to athletes or those with specific injuries. Families, individuals of all ages, and especially children benefit from Spinology. By helping the body function without interference, children can grow and develop with better spinal health, and adults can experience improved comfort and vitality in their day-to-day lives. Whether someone is looking to enhance general well-being or prevent future discomfort, my approach is about supporting the body’s natural ability to function at its best

Could you tell us something about yourself? Your background, qualifications, etc…

My journey began in the realm of professional rugby, where I played at a high level for Harlequins, Cardiff Met, and Richmond. Although I initially pursued a career in rugby, by the age of 22, I realized the need to transition toward a more stable career, yet continued to play for Richmond and in high-level 7’s, balancing my passion for rugby with my professional development.

After graduating from university, and ending my pursuit of professional rugby, I transitioned to the financial sector, working for ICAP as an interdealer broker in the City of London for 16 years, ultimately rising to the position of Managing Director, overseeing two teams of brokers. While this career was fulfilling in its own right, offering invaluable lessons in leadership and perseverance, I yearned for a role that offered a deeper sense of personal fulfilment.

This new path began to unfold in 2021 when my good friend, Benny Matthew, owner of The House of Human Potential at 36 in Cardiff (and the current UK headquarters of the European Spinology Tutorium), introduced me to the world of Spinology. It was through Benny that I met Enrique Boreda Lopez, a distinguished Spinologist at the Spinology Centre in the Mestalla area, Valencia. Convinced of my new calling, I embarked on the Spinology diploma course while still working in finance, a challenging balance made possible by my unwavering commitment and the support of my family.

In January 2024, I achieved a significant milestone by becoming a fully Certified Spinologist. February of the same year marked another proud moment as I opened Spine Temple in the UK, a practice I have continued to serve while transitioning to life in Valencia. I am incredibly proud to maintain my commitment to my UK-based practice members, even as I bring Spine Temple to Valencia.

Working alongside Enrique in Valencia, under his mentorship, has been an extraordinary honour. His guidance has been pivotal in my development as a Spinologist, and together with his wife Pepa, they have been a tremendous support in helping my family and I realize our dreams here. My wife, alongside her business Temples for the Soul, specializes in sound healing and moon ceremonies, practices that have found a vibrant new audience in our new home.

Together, we are committed to building a fulfilling life for our family, embracing the bright future that awaits us in this vibrant city, and continuing to serve and expand the community of Spine Temple members both in the UK and abroad.

How do you find Valencia compared to London to live and work?

Valencia, for me and my family, has been a transformative change from life in London. The most striking difference is the family-oriented approach to life here. I come from a very loving family environment, and it’s something I’m proud to cultivate within my own family. In Valencia, family values are held in the highest regard, and this is deeply woven into the fabric of the community, particularly among the Valencians. This strong emphasis on family life is something I am fully aligned with and has made settling here feel natural and fulfilling.

By contrast, while London provided a rewarding career, the fast-paced, high-stress environment eventually took its toll. The pressure of working in such an intense atmosphere often made it difficult to maintain the kind of balanced, nurturing environment I wanted for my family. I reached a point where I knew I needed to find a place where my family could thrive and where my work could develop in a more meaningful and balanced way.

Valencia has offered exactly that. The pace of life here is slower and more conducive to nurturing deeper family connections, while still allowing me to focus on growing my Spinology practice. It’s been the ideal setting for both my personal and professional aspirations, and I feel grateful to live in a city that fosters both family well-being and career development in such a harmonious way.
