The Warhol exhibition is truly an international reference of Pop Art and consists of 112 works and includes mythical pieces such as the famous Campbell’s soup, Mao and, of course, Marilyn Monroe. It is a unique opportunity to see works that are rarely exhibited, such as his ‘Ladies & Gentleman’ series where he portrayed the Drag Queen and transsexual community of New York in the 70s. “Super pop with Warhol” is an exhibition curated by Edoardo Falcioni and is organised and produced by Next Exhibition. It is organised in collaboration with the Ateneo Mercantil de Valencia, Entradas.com and the Italian Chamber of Commerce.
“The idea is not to live forever, the idea is to create something that does”.
Next Exhibition, together with the Ateneo Mercantil de Valencia, brings to Valencia the exclusive exhibition “Superpop with Warhol”. Comprising a total of 112 original works by the international Pop Art icon, the exhibition will be open from 29 September 2022 to 29 January 2023 in the Salón Noble of the cultural institution.
After winning over the Madrid public, Next Exhibition presents an updated selection in Valencia.
Known as one of the founders of Pop Art, Andy Warhol was much more: in approximately forty years of artistic career he knew how to innovate through a production that combines marketing, art history, fashion, music, graphic design, the world of cinema, photography and entertainment.
The exhibition takes a historical and professional look at the artist in relation to the many sectors in which he worked. At the end of the 1940s he began to collaborate with various fashion magazines and, at the same time, he designed book and music album covers. In the 1950s, he established himself as a respected designer and began to work with a technique that would eventually become inseparable from his personality: silk-screen printing.
The selection of works includes some of the major ones, such as the famous Campbell’s soup, Mao and, of course, Marilyn Monroe. However, it is a unique opportunity to see pieces that are rarely exhibited, such as his “Ladies & Gentleman” series, in which he portrayed the New York Drag Queen and transsexual community of the 1970s, or works from his early period as an advertising designer.
This exhibition allows the visitor to reflect on who Andy Warhol was, what was, and is, his importance for the artistic sector and, above all, what Pop Art is, with iconic work from its most representative artist.
