The professors of the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana will inaugurate the cycle ‘Matins a Les Arts’ this Sunday, the 21st of November at 12:00 noon.
The Sala Principal reopens its doors on Sunday mornings with this activity, which allows citizens to enjoy their first experience in the theatre from its most emblematic space.
For only five euros, Les Arts offers to discover its artistic activity through the hands of its main assets and to contemplate an exhibition of costumes from the theatre’s most acclaimed productions.
On this occasion, the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, in string chamber formation, performs for this musical matinee a programme that pays tribute to the Valencian Francisco Cuesta, whose death centenary will be celebrated in 2021, with the work ‘Suite en estilo antiguo’.
The musical programme is completed with works by outstanding contemporary composers: ‘Holberg Suite, op. 40’ by Edvard Grieg, ‘Serenade for Strings, op. 20’ by Edward Elgar and ‘Simple Symphony, op. 4′ by Benjamin Britten.
As a complement, the Main Hall houses an exhibition with costume pieces from Les Arts’ first production of an opera by Benjamin Britten: ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, under the stage direction of the Scotsman Paul Curran.
