#After two years of suspension during the pandemic, the fourth ‘Mar i Jazz’ festival returns to Valencia this summer, bringing music, culture, leisure and gastronomy for all ages. Located in the charming old fisherman’s barrio Cabanyal, the jazz festival will be held on June 10, 11 and 12. In addition to concerts, the festival will have a gastronomic area, a children’s area, and a craft market.
Parque Dr. Lluch will be the setting of the concerts, which will host the best of the jazz scene. Since its birth in 2016, Mar i Jazz has showcased the best Valencian and national jazz artists, from established prestigious artists, to young promise. The festival also closely collaborates with one of the most well-recognized jazz schools in Spain, Sedajazz.
This year, Mar i Jazz aims to achieve greater gender equality and inclusion in its programming, production and equipment; to create a safe space for diversity and to promote sustainability. These goals also extend to the various satellite activities in the coming months, which will be revealed soon.
The Mar i Jazz poster was designed by multidisciplinary creative, Inma Carpena. “For the poster I was inspired by the idea of rebirth, rebirthing. Mar i Jazz has not been able to be held for two years and this edition we wanted it to be an explosion of joy, color and celebration for its resurgence,” said the artist.
The city of Valencia and the neighbourhood of Cabanyal has a jazz-filled reunion to look forward to this summer. If you want to find out more about the Mar i Jazz festival, take a look at their website.
