WHAT’S ON IN VALENCIA THIS WEEKEND?!

Live music: Down by the beach at Cabanyal, you can enjoy some free live music in the artistic and unique venue of Fábrica de Hielo. If Jazz music in an intimate venue is more your thing, then head to Jimmy Glass on Saturday night to enjoy a jazz quartet performance by pianist Migue Rodríguez, saxophonist Víctor Jiménez, double bassist Javi Callén and drummer Miguel Benito. Family & Outdoor events:  On the 15th of June, located in the Jardines de Viveros, Valencia’s Tomato Fair, (Il Fira de la Tomata Valenciana) is on! The Valencian tomato is known for its exceptional flavour, its nutritional properties and its characteristic pointed shape, which you can learn all about this weekend. On Saturday, from 5:30pm until 9:30pm, in the Viveros Gardens, there will be a total of 12 Valencian tomato stands, organised by the Association of Producers and Marketers of Valencian tomatoes. From June 13th to 16th, the ‘Valencia International Circus Festival of Contorsions’ is on! An artistic event promoted by the Valencia City Council, showcasing contortions, gymnastics, trapeze acts, and more across multiple different locations around Valencia! Art: Located in the centre of Valencia, between Plaza de la Reina and Plaza de la Virgen, Salva Ciges is  presenting a selection of his watercolour artwork in his new exhibition ‘Exposición Acuarelas’, open to the public, completely free, until Monday the 17th of June. Address: Ajuntament de València, Sala d’expositions Junta Municipal de Ciutat Vella, C/ Micalet, 1 (next to The Cathedral)

The iconic IVAM museum has just opened a new exhibition on the 13th of June which will run until the 13th of October. ‘Carolina Caycedo. Land of Friends’ offers an insight into the themes of climate and social justice through drawings, performances, photographs and videos. Caycedo’s work invites viewers to understand the unsustainable pace of growth under capitalism, and how nature should be seen as a living and spiritual entity. Address: C/ de Guillem de Castro, 118.
