‘100 Paladas Solidarias SUMA against Breast Cancer and SUMA Challenges for Equality’ on 15th September in Jávea

Jávea opens the solidarity calendar with the SUMA 100 Paladas Solidarity Challenge. The first day of the Challenge ‘100 Paladas Solidarias SUMA against Breast Cancer and SUMA Challenges for Equality’ will take place next Sunday, 15th September in Jávea.The Rowing Federation of the Valencian Community is organising this solidarity and promotional rowing event, with the support of SUMA Gestión Tributaria and the collaboration of Club Náutico Jávea. This initiative is in its fourth season to raise awareness of this problem and to send an optimistic and comforting message to the people are currently suffering from it and who have been through it.

Jávea Solidarity Challenge is the first of four scheduled between September and November 2024. Denia, Benidorm and Valencia will also host the event. The Jávea event will be held in the open sea, next to Club Nautical Club and in front of the Playa de la Grava beach, so the public will be able to follow it from various points along the coast. The day will also include various activities to promotion of rowing.

The event is divided into two events. On the one hand, there is the usual format of the Cien Paladas in which three teams from the clubs Club Rem Marina de Denia, Club Náutico Benidorm and Club Regatas de Alicante will participate. The first start is scheduled for nine o’clock and the finals are scheduled to take place half an hour later. Each team in this race will be made up of at least eight people who have overcome breast cancer. The established distance is one thousand metres, with a tack and the rowing modality for this and the other race is that of the Falucho/Llaüt Valencià.

The novelty of this season is the SUMA Challenge for Equality, an initiative based on Equality, an initiative based on inclusion to continue raising awareness of this problem.

The format of this modality is a one-on-one confrontation against one another, over a 1,000-metre course with a tack. The plan includes heats, semi-finals and a final. In this event, the three aforementioned clubs will take part, as well as several representatives of the Club Náutico Jávea.

This day is part of the social work of the Rowing Federation of the Comunitat Valenciana, as part of the the Valencian Community, with the aim of promoting the social the coexistence of people who have suffered from breast cancer. Sport improves the quality of life, especially for those who are going through a difficult time. Rowing has, in addition, an important degree of companionship and self-improvement in each stroke and is a notable reinforcement for the emotional state of the participants.
