It’s almost an amusing inside joke that ‘The Horrors’, a band who have made darkness their natural habitat, have decided to title their new album, ‘Night Life’. At this point, after almost two decades of touring the darkest corners of rock, punk and synth-pop, the fact that Faris Badwan and company have chosen this title is practically as if they were releasing an eponymous album. ‘The Horrors’ have done nothing but run away from the light of day while escaping comparisons with illustrious dark names such as The Birthday Party, Bauhaus or The Cure. Record by record, they have devised their own palette of dark colours. The Horrors will present both ‘Night Life’ and their new line-up (keyboardist Amelia Kidd and drummer Jordan Cook have joined Rhys Webb, Joshua Hayward and Badwan himself).
