Valencia’s vibrant art scene is gaining international recognition thanks to local resident and artist Séfora Camazano, who was recently honoured in New York City with the prestigious “The New Great Masters in New York” award by the Fondazione Effetto Arte, an esteemed art foundation based in Palermo, Italy. The ceremony took place on April 4, 2025, at the Sanctuary at the Church of the Ascension in Brooklyn, in the presence of notable art collectors, journalists, political figures, and international art lovers. As part of this recognition, Séfora’s work was also presented in video format at ARTEXPO NEW YORK—held from April 3 to 6—one of the world’s most prestigious art fairs, renowned for showcasing exceptional talent to influential collectors and galleries.
From Valencia to Manhattan
Though celebrated abroad, Séfora Camazano creates her internationally exhibited artwork right here in Valencia, from her studio-gallery in Mas Camarena, just 15 minutes from the city centre. Her deep roots in the local community and her connection to the city’s creative atmosphere make this global recognition all the more meaningful for Valencia’s art scene. Séfora is known for her ability to fuse traditional and contemporary techniques into emotionally powerful and conceptually rich pieces. Her collection “Female Portraits: Looking Back to the Past”, which addresses themes such as resilience, trauma, memory, and the untold stories of women throughout history, has been shown in Paris, Basel, Berlin,
Dubai and other cultural capitals. Local art enthusiasts may remember this same collection from its extended 7-month exhibition at The Westin Hotel in Valencia two years ago. If you missed it, now is the perfect opportunity to view some of the original works in person by visiting her studio.
A Voice for the Voiceless
“This award is not only a personal milestone,” Séfora shares, “but a tribute to the women whose lives have inspired my work. Through my art, I aim to give voice to stories that are often overlooked—stories of strength, survival, and dignity.”
Her mixed-media portraits combine photography, painting, and digital elements to create compelling visual narratives. Each piece captures more than a face—it holds a memory, a legacy, and a message for future generations. With over two decades of experience, her work continues to grow in both artistic and investment value, drawing collectors from across
Europe and beyond.
