Simms Community Impact Foundation (SCIF) and Baila Con Cameron (BCC) Performing Arts have announced a new partnership aimed at combating loneliness and isolation and strengthening support for Valencia’s international community. The partnership has a personal connection for both organisations and is grounded in shared values, with SCIF and BCC committed to creating inclusive, welcoming communities where people feel supported and accepted, while making sure they know that support and a community to turn to are within reach. SCIF founder Amanda Simms and BCC founder Cameron Hall have both experienced the impact of dementia within their families, shaping their understanding of the importance of practical support, companionship and community for individuals, carers and families.
For people building a life in a new country, language barriers, distance from established support networks and finding new ways to meet people can make it harder to find the right support or feel part of a community. These challenges can be particularly significant for older people and those caring for a loved one.
Through partnership, SCIF and BCC will work together on initiatives and events that bring their communities together, raise awareness of loneliness and isolation, and help more people discover the support and community available to them in Valencia.
Amanda Simms, Founder of Simms Community Impact Foundation, said:
“SCIF grew from a very personal understanding of how isolating it can feel when you are caring for someone you love, particularly when you are living away from your established support network. We want people to know that they don’t have to navigate those experiences alone. BCC shares our belief in creating inclusive, welcoming communities, which makes this partnership a natural fit.”
Cameron Hall, Founder of BCC Performing Arts, said:
“BCC has always been about much more than dance or what happens on stage. I wanted to create a space where people could come as they are, meet others and feel genuinely welcome. Having experienced the impact of dementia in my own family, SCIF’s work is also very close to my heart. Together, we can help more people in Valencia know that there is a community here for them.”
