Alcampo Aldaia celebrates 25 years of activity as a benchmark for its customers

The Aldaia centre currently has a staff of 180 people. Alcampo Aldaia celebrates 25 years of activity as a benchmark for its customers. Located in the Bonaire shopping centre, Alcampo Aldaia reopened 45 days after the DANA storm after suffering very serious damage to its facilities. Alcampo has just celebrated the 25th anniversary of its store in the Valencian town of Aldaia! A quarter of a century in which the company has dedicated itself to improving the quality of life of citizens by offering a varied, high-quality and affordable shopping basket; practicing ethical, fair and responsible commerce that strongly promotes local development, while creating key alliances for joint and shared growth.

The Aldaia centre opened its doors in 2001. It was the third hypermarket that the company opened in the Valencian Community, the second in the province of Valencia after landing in Alboraya in 1985. With a total area of 10,800 square metres and around 46,000 product references, Alcampo Aldaia has established itself in these years as one of the main references for families when shopping. Since its launch, it is estimated that more than 25 million people have passed through this hypermarket.

From its hypermarket in Aldaia – as well as from the other four centres that the company has in the Valencian Community – Alcampo has reinforced its commitment to the conservation of the cultural and gastronomic legacy of this region, working side by side with local suppliers, highlighting Valencian products on its shelves, and promoting their knowledge and consumption among its customers.

Reopening 45 days after the DANA storm
With a clear solidarity vocation, Alcampo Aldaia collaborates with different associations and social projects, including the Food Bank, Arropa-Caritas and the Red Cross. Aware of the reality that surrounds us, the hypermarket has always shown interest in developing actions that promote sustainability such as the Textil Arropa 2ª Vida initiative, to offer a second chance to the clothes we discard, or actions to reduce food waste.

During these 25 years, Alcampo Aldaia has experienced great moments alongside its customers, but has also experienced other harder ones. The Alcampo hypermarket in Aldaia was one of the many companies affected by the consequences of the DANA storm in October 2024. The centre suffered very serious damage from the floods, fortunately none of a personal nature, which forced it to stop its activity. After weeks of hard work by the responsible teams, and together with collaborators and suppliers, the hypermarket was able to reopen its doors 45 days after the DANA storm, in December 2024, in order to continue serving customers.

The hypermarket was completely renovated at that time. “Those of us who were here know well what that meant. We know what it cost to raise the shutters again, recover the store, tidy, clean, renovate, start over. Today, seeing this hypermarket like this, full of life, with the team ready, with customers entering our doors again and with all of you accompanying us, I think we can say something proudly: Alcampo Aldaia got back on its feet,” said Alfonso Bermejo, director of Alcampo in Aldaia, during the anniversary celebration event.

In an event in which the main person in charge of the hypermarket also took the opportunity to thank authorities, suppliers, customers, neighbors, and especially the team of workers for making that recovery possible in record time. “Thank you, very especially, to the Alcampo Aldaia team, to the 180 people who make up the team of this hypermarket. To those who were there before the DANA storm. To those who were there during the most difficult days. To those who have continued later, pulling the cart, recovering the store, attending, smiling when it was time to smile and gritting their teeth when it was time to grit,” he added.

Bermejo also recalled what this quarter of a century of life has meant for Alcampo Aldaia: “Twenty-five years is a long time. It’s enough time for many Saturday purchases, for many conversations in the aisles, for many recommendations at the counters, for customers we’ve known for years by name and for people who have grown up coming to this store with their parents and who today return with their own children.”
