Doudou Nganga is a multifaceted Hispanic-Congolese musician and artist residing in Valencia, Spain. Having earned a degree in Fine Arts in Kinshasa, he arrived in Spain in 2003 on a postgraduate scholarship for the University of Valencia. Since then, he has focused his career on spreading African culture through music, dance, and painting, fusing his Congolese roots with genres such as afro-jazz, afrobeat, and world music. Doudou continues to present his latest work, ‘Tokororo,’ in which he blends the traditions of his African roots with touches of jazz, Afro-Latin rhythms, or afrobeat within his songs. For Nganga, his new work is “a story of families and human, artistic, and musical friendships, of new roots being added to the old.” It is a project through which he also wishes to share the culture of a people “torn apart today by wars and the world’s appetite for the wealth of its soil.”
