On the evening of June 14, Valencia hosted the Pladur Construction Solutions Awards Gala to recognize and honour architects from all around Spain and Portugal who have contributed to the construction of the Iberian Peninsula. Held at the Ciudad de Les Artes y Ciencias, the 35th annual gala focused on the project of making the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Aránzazu, in Oñate, a space for co-creation and artistic expression.
That night in the Palau de Les Artes, the Iberian Award for the Best Architecture Project was given to Xavier Arés Marín of the Barcelona School of Architecture for his “Suspensus” project, and the Best Construction Solution Award went to Tania Rodríguez Ortuño, Olga Parres Barceló, and Jorge Sánchez Simón at the University of Alicante.
Honorable mentions were also given to Javier Serrano García-Minguillán of the Catholic University of San Antonio of Murcia for his “Kobarte” project, and to Sergio Requeijo González, Freilyn Moreno Herrera, and Daniel Vaquero Salinero of the Valladolid School of Architecture for their “Adhesio” project. García-Minguillán received the Iberian BIM Mention, and Requeijo González’s team received the Sustainable Construction Mention.
The Ten Voices of Aránzazu, the project by Alejandro Pascual and Carlos Ortiz, was a finalist for the Best Architecture Project award and won the first local award in Valencia.
With art, science, and architecture, these projects brought together several disciplines of creative and artistic solutions, highlighting not only the talents of those who participated but also the brilliant ideas that will propel the Iberian Peninsula into the future of construction, where art and science are intrinsically intertwined.
