‘GISELLE’

The National Dance Company presents the masterpiece inspired by Spanish Romanticism and the poetry of Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer. Giselle comes to Valencia and Palau de les Arts, directed and choreographed by Joaquín De Luz. The music of Giselle by Adolphe-Charles Adam will be performed live by the Orchestra of the Valencia Community.

Giselle is a story of a young maiden in love with a handsome, foreign traveller whom she will love even beyond death. Without dropping any of the elements that have placed this piece as one of the summits of classical ballet, this interpretation of Giselle includes Spanish traditions and a modern take from Joaquín De Luz. The end of Giselle sees the forces of love and the forces of dance beat both death and darkness. “That is the hope that guides us throughout the performance”.
