The Valencian Community enjoys a mild climate, with little variation in temperature between the different seasons and little rainfall, which guarantees a large number of perfect days per year for climbing. We also have lots and lots of high quality rock, with some of the best sport climbing areas in Europe and some of the most interesting mountains of the Iberian Peninsula.
From south to north we have Redován, la Foradá, Sella, el Puig Campana, el Cabeço d’ or, el Peñón del Divino, Ponoig and l’Arràn de Batistot; el Penyal d’Ifach, la Bernia, el Benicadell and l’Aixortà; Vallada and Montesa; the Penya Roja de la Marxuquera, Bovedón, Bovedín and Bove-dos in Gandía; Cortes de Pallàs, the Corral de vacas in Chiva, the Turia canyon in Chulilla, Peña María in Gestalgar, Montanejos, Jérica, Penyagolosa, Culla, Morella and many others that I am leaving out!
In general, the routes are of excellent quality, sport or traditional, single or multi-pitch, on the shores of the Mediterranean or in the more austere interior… thousands of metres to explore for all tastes, climbing styles and levels. Except for some very specific sectors, our mountains are slabs of limestone rock of excellent quality.
The routes are equipped with quality criteria both in the execution and in the materials used; it is worth mentioning the effort made in recent years by the outfitters and some public administrations to improve these aspects, so important to guarantee the safety of climbers: approved materials have been introduced, ’12 metric’ regarding the bolts and ‘A4′ steel for the bolts with chemically- fixed steel tensors. We must also highlight the effort made to improve the information regarding the different climbing schools, both in printed and digital format, so that we can find a lot of updated and quality information on the routes. I must remind you of the importance of buying the review books published by the climbing schools themselves, as the proceeds from their sale are used to finance the equipment of new routes or the re-equipment of old ones: “¡STOP VAMP-TOPOS!!!!” (Stop piracy of books)
In addition, the Region of Valencia has a wide range of cultural, gastronomic and recreational activities, as well as a complete network of hotels and services, so that you will find everything you need during your stay.
If you don’t know the Valencian Community, schedule your next climbing trip to our land and you will enjoy some unforgettable days. practising our passion for the mountains too.
