FIVE PLACES TO SEE LIVE MUSIC IN VALENCIA THIS OCTOBER

A night does not go by in Valencia where one cannot enjoy the sounds of quality live music from the cosy and intimate open mic nights of ‘Kaf Café’ in Benimaclet to the immersive flamenco shows hosted by ‘Café del Duende’ near the Torres de Quart. Radio City

It wouldn’t be an article on live music without the mention of ‘Radio City’ – arguably the ‘coolest’ live music spot in town. Located in the old town near the Barrio del Carmen, this juice bar turned music venue is the perfect place to find a community of creative, free-thinkers and music-lovers. Their standard weekly events include a hip-hop night on Monday, flamenco on Tuesday, reggae night on Wednesday (and Sunday) and a karaoke rock band every Thursday. DJ’s provide entertainment from 11:55pm onwards on most weekends.

Loco Club

Loco Club is a live music venue near Angel Guimera in the city centre where visitors can enjoy music, food and drink at an affordable price. Almost every day in October a concert will be taking place at Loco Club. From Indie music with Samuraï + Kylu Te Quiero on Tuesday the 18^th to Rock ‘n’ Roll with Frank Suz and Frito Pendejo on Friday the 14^th. 16 Toneladas

16 Toneladas, situated in the barrio of Campanar near the main bus station, is a lively music venue where no genre is shunned. Attracting a slightly more mature crowd, this venue is perfect if you’re looking to get away from the student-focused places. Amongst the many concerts taking place at 16 Toneladas in the month of October, on Friday 14^th duo, Children of Zeus, take the stage. Hailing all the way from Manchester, Konny Kon and Tyler Daley bring a fresh take on modern Soul/RnB to Valencia. Jimmy Glass Jazz Bar

For Jazz lovers and those curious about the Valencia Jazz scene, Jimmy Glass Jazz Bar is the best of the best. With an audience of locals and tourists alike, Jimmy Glass doesn’t feel like an exclusive, name-your-top-five-jazz-artists-before-you-enter kind of place. Throughout the month of October, the Jimmy Glass Jazz Festival takes place featuring music from the Jessie Davis quartet and the Afro-Eurasian eclipse to name a few. La Batisfera

The city centre isn’t the only place where one can enjoy live music, if you’re looking for somewhere to go after a day of lounging by the sea, La Batisfera might just be the place for you. Located in Cabanyal, this café/bookstore offers a wide array of events ranging from live poetry and music to improv. This month they have two concerts on the 14^th and 21st at only 5€ each!
