La Mostra Film Festival is back in 2023 from the 19th to the 29th of October for its 38th edition. This festival, founded in 1980, was created with a mission to centralize Mediterranean film production. Over the years, it became a cultural cornerstone in the region.
Mostra de València – Cinema del Mediterrani is a film festival that takes place in València and focuses on the audiovisual production of the Mediterranean geographical and cultural field. The vision is to create a long-lasting cultural project that firmly establishes the significance of cultural events for the city. This festival is not just for cinema experts; it is for everyone who loves the art of film. This year’s selection contains positions such as:
Deserts by Faouzi Bensaïdi – In southern Morocco, two petty thieves embark on a quest to collect overdue loans from struggling villagers, but their lives take an unexpected turn when they encounter a unique bandit.
Fireworks by Giuseppe Fiorello – A poignant portrayal of two young men drawn to each other amidst the backdrop of 1982 Sicily’s deeply entrenched prejudices and traditional values.
The Wedding Parade by Sevinaz Evdike – In the shadow of the Syrian border, a young woman’s impending wedding faces a stark choice as the spectre of war looms, forcing her family to confront a heart-wrenching decision.
