From the streets of an ancient Roman city to the terrifying eruption that buried it in AD 79, The Last Days of Pompeii brings one of history’s most dramatic events to life in an extraordinary immersive experience. Valencia is about to travel back almost 2,000 years to one of the most fascinating cities of the Roman Empire. The Last Days of Pompeii, an award-winning immersive exhibition that has attracted more than one million visitors worldwide, arrives in the city for the first time on 7 October 2026.
Created by Madrid Artes Digitales (MAD), the production has already toured major international cities including Madrid, Vienna, Berlin, Beijing, London, Brussels and Barcelona. Now, Valencia audiences will have the opportunity to discover the world of Pompeii through a spectacular combination of history, digital technology and immersive storytelling.
Experience the final hours of Pompeii
In AD 79, the eruption of Mount Vesuvius overwhelmed Pompeii, burying its streets, buildings and inhabitants beneath volcanic ash and debris. The catastrophe became one of the most infamous disasters in ancient history, while the remarkably preserved remains of the city have since provided an extraordinary window into everyday Roman life.
The Last Days of Pompeii invites visitors to explore that world before witnessing its sudden destruction.
Spread across more than 1,500 square metres of installations, the exhibition combines 360-degree immersive projections, virtual reality experiences, interactive spaces and historical reproductions and artefacts.
Rather than simply looking at displays behind glass, visitors can become part of a visual journey through ancient streets, Roman culture and the events leading up to the eruption. The experience brings together the everyday reality of life in Pompeii with the dramatic power of one of nature’s most devastating forces.
An international success story
First presented in Madrid in 2023, the exhibition has established itself as one of the leading immersive historical productions of recent years.
Its achievements include the award for Best History Exhibition in Spain at the +Historia Awards, organised by Historia National Geographic and decided by the magazine’s readers.
Its arrival in Valencia offers local residents, history enthusiasts, families and visitors a chance to experience a production that has already reached audiences across Europe and Asia.
It also promises to be an engaging option for schools, bringing ancient history to life through technology and visual storytelling in a way that goes beyond the traditional classroom.
