The GastroMercat de Colón and the cafeterias of El Corte Inglés Avenida de Francia and Nuevo Centro will be adding the recipe of the dish dedicated to this protected product to their gastronomic offer until 8 February. El Corte Inglés supermarkets in the Valencia region will be selling this exclusive product from the town of Castellón. ‘Sabors de Temporada Km0 El Corte Inglés’ kicks off this year 2025 with the El Toro Black Truffle, which will be the star product until 8 February. This campaign features, through a recipe, a local product at the height of the season prepared by a prestigious chef.
With the collaboration of the Inboga gastronomic agenda, the chef Sandra Jorge from the Xanglot restaurant in Valencia, has prepared a recipe for a dish with the product of the month, the truffle from the village of El Toro in Castellón, which the GastroMercat of El Corte Inglés Colón and the Cafeterias of El Corte Inglés Avenida de Francia and Nuevo Centro will add to their gastronomic offer, with a perfect pairing, in this case by Bodegas Vicente Gandía.
With the presence of the Mayor of El Toro, José Arenes Vicente, and the Marketing Director and sommelier of Bodegas Vicente Gandía, Carlos García and Maximiliano Bao, respectively, the promotion was presented today in the GastroMercat of El Corte Inglés Colón by the chef of the Xanglot restaurant, Sandra Jorge, who prepared the dish ‘Arroz seco de pelota valenciana trufada, calabaza y sobrasada’ (dry rice with truffled Valencian ball, pumpkin and sobrasada).
The attendees were able to taste this protected product, paired with Bobal Negro red wine from Bodegas Vicente Gandía, a partner of the event. The mayor of El Toro emphasised that events like this allow the truffle cultivation to be promoted, a source of wealth for the town of El Toro, which in turn helps to establish the population in the inland regions of the Valencian Community.
In this way, Sabors de Temporada Km 0 El Corte Inglés extols this exclusive ingredient that has managed to conquer the palates of chefs and consumers all over the world. In addition, all El Corte Inglés supermarkets in the Valencian Community will be selling El Toro Black Truffle in their greengrocers to prepare the most succulent recipes.

About the El Toro Black Truffle
The El Toro Black Truffle is one of the gastronomic treasures of the Valencian Community. It is an underground fungus that is cultivated in the town of El Toro in Castellón and whose flavour is exquisite. It is not in vain that it is considered a gastronomic diamond and has a high economic value.
But the black truffle cannot be grown just anywhere, as the soil, and also the weather, must have certain conditions for it to develop and be of exceptional quality. In this sense, it requires a chalky soil with stony ground and a climate with short, cool summers, snowfalls in winter and strong winds. The climate is determined by the altitude of the area, the relief and its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea.
