SP-BERNER CELEBRATES ITS 60TH ANNIVERSARY WITH €146 MILLION IN REVENUE AND BOLSTERS ITS INVESTMENT PLANS

With its Industry 4.0 initiative, the company will invest €100 million over the next four years to expand, automate, digitise, and specialise its production facilities. Despite the impact of the DANA on its recycling plant in Torrente, the company increased sales of recycled plastic raw materials by 18%.  Sp-Berner, a Valencian family business with over 60 years in the plastics processing sector and a presence in more than 55 countries, concluded the last financial year with a turnover exceeding €146 million and a pre-tax profit of €17.5 million. This success is attributed to its strategic plan, which emphasises cost control, portfolio optimisation, and process improvement.

Although maintaining the same turnover as the previous year, sales in the Consumer Goods and Outdoor Furniture segments rose by 7%, while the company’s active product range decreased by 20%. This aligns with its Efficient Assortment strategy, which has driven sales growth and led to a higher proportion of new products in total sales, demonstrating the company’s strong commitment to innovation.

These results reinforce Sp-Berner’s leadership in Spain, capturing the largest market share in mass distribution across all manufacturers in the cleaning category (brooms, handles, dustpans) and Household Goods (airtight containers), with Mercadona as its primary client, as well as in Recycled Plastic Outdoor Furniture (sets, sun loungers, chairs, and tables).

In 2025, expanding into the Latin American market remains a key objective as part of its ongoing internationalisation efforts.

The average workforce in 2024 was 771, reflecting a 5% increase compared to the previous year. Employees at Sp-Berner are central to its pursuit of excellence. The company’s high standards of customer service are driven by fully committed staff, continuous development of skills and leadership, and authentic leadership.

Sp-Berner actively promotes environmental conservation through recycling plastic waste at its 72,000 m2 recycling plant in Torrente (Valencia). Last year, despite damage caused by DANA (Earthquake Damage), around 20,000 tonnes of post-consumer and industrial plastics were recycled into high-quality raw materials, increasing sales of plastic raw materials by 18%.

This sustainability commitment is crucial for the Valencian firm, which generated 5.6 million kWh of solar energy—equivalent to planting 75,000 trees annually—and reducing CO2 emissions by 1,500 tonnes per year, with 54% of its energy coming from renewable sources.

The company has established an Environmental Management System that complies with the guidelines of the UNE-EN ISO 14001 standard, which it has certified.

Industry 4.0 Project

As part of its 2025-2028 strategic plan, Sp-Berner is planning and designing the construction of the Sp-Berner 4.0 smart complex. With investments exceeding €100 million over the next four years, the company is confidently positioning itself, recognising technological innovation as vital for market leadership. This plan is shared with its main clients, who trust in the company.

This significant project aims to reinforce the company’s position as the leading sustainable plastics manufacturer in Southern Europe, providing high-quality recycled plastic solutions for the Cleaning, Household, Dental, Garden Furniture, and Industrial sectors. Moreover, by 2025, it will supply over 150,000 sustainable advertising terraces across Spain.
