El Corte Inglés is highlighting the Tomato of El Perelló in its “Sabors de Temporada Km 0”campaign, which will be running until June 23rd. This initiative, which promotes local seasonal products, will feature a special recipe, prepared by a prestigious chef, in the GastroMercat and cafeterias of various El Corte Inglés locations in the Valencian Community. Additionally, the tomato will be available for purchase in all El Corte Inglés supermarkets in the region.

The campaign was launched at the GastroMercat de Colón, attended by representatives from Unipro and the El Perelló City Council. The featured dish, “Ceviche de Tomate de El Perelló y Clòtxina valenciana,” created by chef Eduardo Espejo from Flama restaurant, with a Sol Repsol in 2024, will be paired with albariño wine from Bodegas Hispano Suizas. This campaign underscores El Corte Inglés’ commitment to promoting high-quality local products, such as Clòtxina valenciana, Chufa de Alboraya, Langostino de Vinaròs, and Citrus of the Comunitat Valenciana.

The Tomato of El Perelló, cultivated organically in the Natural Park of l’Albufera, is known being for being a high quality tomato that has a high nutritional content. Fleshy, sweet and juicy, it grows from May to August in sandy areas historically used for agriculture. Chef Eduardo Espejo, born in Xàtiva, and started cooking at 18 in his hometown, is known for his dedication to haute cuisine, and crafted the ceviche recipe. Espejo has worked in various prestigious kitchens and is currently leading the restaurant Flama, which has received significant acclaim.

The albariño wine from Bodegas Hispano Suizas, produced in the Utiel-Requena region, complements the tomato dish. The winery’s unique approach to cultivating albariño in Requena results in a wine with distinct acidity and freshness, contributing to the campaign’s goal of celebrating local gastronomic excellence.
