The weather conditions granted a respite last Sunday in Valencia and allowed the I Long Distance Sea Rowing Regatta of the year to take place. All teams were able to row on the waters of Valencia, in front of the popular Pinedo Beach. The host club, Real Club Náutico Valencia, made a tremendous effort to ensure that the regatta could take place with relative normality, in a co-organization with the Rowing Federation of the Valencian Community and with financial support from. SUMA Gestión Tributaria.
The cadet trial saw triumphs from Club Náutico Alicante Costa Blanca and Real Club Náutico Gandía in the female C2X and C4X, respectively; and from Club Náutico Santa Pola in the male doubles category. The Alicante club continued the path of victories with a double in the two categories of female juvenile, while a representative of Real Club Náutico Valencia won the male division in this age group.
All races completed the same course: 3,000 metres and two turns around the buoy. The boats of the Mar Clot de L’Illot El Campello Sports Club were champions in the absolute heats, as the Campello club won in six out of the seven races; the three female heats (C1X, C2X, and C4X), the male doubles and quadruples, and in the mixed absolute doubles. On the other hand, an athlete from Club Náutico Santa Pola took the victory in the men’s individual category. The heats in the veteran category were more evenly distributed. Club Náutico Alicante Costa Blanca won the female and mixed doubles, while Real Club Regatas Alicante triumphed in the male C1X and C2X races. In the men’s C4X category, victory went to the Real Club Náutico Valencia team, rounding up an exciting day of rowing.
