24/7 VALENCIA: Could you tell us more about the flamenco show in Valencia at ‘Teatro Olympia’ on June 8th?
MAYTE MARTÍN: “This show is an incitement to remembrance. To that healing action of stirring the memory to worship what preceded us and to give thanks for what was granted to us. The act of stopping to reflect on what is essential. To honour flamenco is what I want. And that is why I place my sense of decorum and freedom at its service in equal parts. The first to contribute to preserve with rigour its precepts, which are given by ethics and an aesthetic that are our sacred heritage; the second, to put all my creative, imaginative and emotional capacities at its service, to be a vehicle that connects the past with the present, to search within myself and give light to the resonance of the ancient echoes that speak within my voice; And to summon up, through them, the ancestors of Patricia Guerrero, a dancer of today, capable of creating in her imagination and movements… the answer to those echoes of the past.”
