A local artist in Cabanyal will showcase the light and colours of Valencia in a new exhibition, Valencia Vibrante, with the Centro Cultural Escorxador (Calle Sant Pere 35-37) from July 18 to September 28, 2025. Kassandra Flinterhoff’s art pays homage to the charm of the charming seaside neighbourhood of Cabanyal and the vivid colours of the Valencian sky in semi-realistic works of art.
Divided into two parts, Valencia Vibrante presents a new series of mixed media paintings on canvas inspired by Valencia’s natural surroundings, ranging from semi-realism to abstract art. “We wanted to support Kassandra’s work because she has a very particular vision of our neighbourhood and our city; in her work she uses vibrant colours where the sea and nature take centre stage,” says Isabel Caballero Pérez, artistic director of the Escorxador Cultural Center. “Kassandra’s style, which ranges from organic abstraction to realism, invites a deeper appreciation of the natural world around us.”
The Escorxador Cultural Center, which has just celebrated its first anniversary since its opening in May 2024, was created to enhance the value of the various memories that make up the neighbourhood of Cabanyal-Canyamelar. The center proposes a stable program of cultural and educational activities, related to the memory of the neighbourhood and its people. It aims to be a meeting place for the neighbourhood’s people and characters, as well as for visitors, and an engine of cultural participation led by its neighbours.
“Arriving in Valencia in 2019, I was inspired by the majestic colours that envelop our skies and I am delighted to show these pieces in the traditional neighbourhood of Cabanyal,” says Kassandra Flinterhoff of Kassandra Studio. Kassandra arrived in Valencia in 2022 from Germany and fell in love with the vitality of the city. A graduate of the Milan Art Institute’s Master’s Program, she quickly perfected her style in Valencia, where she paints on canvas in several layers using acrylics, sand, collage, gold, airbrush and traditional oils to bring to life the colours of the city that inspire her.
“The transition from day to night is like a hypnotic dance of colours that brings me peace,” the artist continues. “In those moments, I feel my worries subside and my concerns are dwarfed by the immensity of nature. Whether at sunrise or sunset, it makes me remember that no matter what; the sun will always rise, anchoring me to a rhythm that takes me beyond myself.”
This year Kassandra has set up a studio at Doctor Lluch 33, in Cabanyal, where she invites anyone curious about art to collaborate or participate in workshops.
Valencia Vibrante begins on Friday, July 18 with a vernissage at 8:00 p.m. and continues until Thursday, September 28, 2025, for a total of six weeks, following the Centre’s summer schedule. The Cultural Center will be closed in August. Access is free of charge. For more information about the exhibition and the Centro Cultural Escorxador C/ de Sant Pere, 37 (Poblats Marítims) 46011 , please visit kassandra.studio or cultural.valencia.es.
