‘IoT Sparks’ will transform ‘The Terminal Hub’ in Valencia into a living laboratory of technological innovation and will monitor an event in real time for the first time. On October 7, Valencia will host a new edition of IoT Sparks; the international conference dedicated to the Internet of Things (IoT) and applied innovation, organized by the technology company LORIOT. After the success of its first edition, the event returns with an even more ambitious proposal: to transform The Terminal Hub into a “Living Lab” where real-time measurements will be taken thanks to sensors connected using LoRaWAN® technology, developed in collaboration with Milesight and Akenza. This installation will allow attendees to live an immersive experience in which IoT ceases to be theory and becomes tangible practice.
Among the most notable new features, the Living Lab will measure traffic flow without compromising privacy, displaying occupancy by zone through heat maps. Noise levels will also be recorded, allowing the impact of each session to be identified through audience response, and environmental parameters such as CO₂, temperature, and humidity will be monitored. Through connected feedback buttons, participants will be able to share their assessments of the conferences, spaces, and services, generating qualitative data in real time. In addition, a catamaran activity equipped with sensors will complete the programme, bringing IoT to the sea.
The event will bring together international experts who will share practical cases of IoT implementation in large corporations. Confirmed speakers include Carina Lourdes Viglietti (IBM), Dario Zadravec (Roche), Rafal Kaja (EY), Stefania Gilli (Vodafone IoT), and Attilio Somma (TIM). The programme will be structured around five strategic sectors: Industry and Energy, Smart Cities, Logistics and Mobility, Sustainability, and Digital Innovation.
For The Terminal Hub, the event’s venue and strategic partner, participation in IoT Sparks represents an opportunity to materialize its commitment to innovation and the growth of the Valencian technological ecosystem. “We want to demonstrate that technology can be experiential, practical, and accessible. Transforming our space into a Living Lab is a way to accelerate the adoption of IoT and demonstrate how collaboration between companies and innovation spaces can generate real impact,” highlights Quique Calabuig, CEO of The Terminal Hub. Francesc Pons, director of TTH, adds: “We are hosting a pioneering event that is aligned with our strategic technology focus. It is our mission to host, support, and promote these types of initiatives where cutting-edge and disruptive technologies play a key role in the development of innovation.”
IoT Sparks is aimed at technology companies, startups, integrators, consultancies, and innovation leaders, as well as entities from traditional sectors that are transitioning toward digital transformation. Industries such as energy, logistics, construction, and mobility will find the event a platform to discover real-world IoT applications, access strategic content on innovation, explore new solutions, and build key relationships within the ecosystem.
Backed by Valencia City Council and València Innovation Capital, IoT Sparks will also feature the participation of leading companies such as WIKA, Miromico, mioty alliance, Universal Alliances, RAKwireless, Milesight, Akenza, TagoIO, and many more. The Terminal Hub, with its more than 5,000 m², reaffirms its role as an active agent of innovation in the city, becoming an interactive experimentation environment that drives technological development in Spain.
The Terminal Hub: The Home of Innovation in Valencia
The Terminal Hub is an innovation ecosystem that connects talent, technology, and investment from Valencia to the world, enabling ideas to meet opportunities. This connection doesn’t happen by chance; it happens because its mission is to create an environment where ideas not only develop but are also linked to real opportunities. Through a carefully designed network, it connects people, companies, and institutions, and creative impulses find community, purpose, and resources to grow. And all with the help of the “Hubbers”: from large corporations like IBM, the Chamber of Commerce, the Instituto de Empresa, or Zubi Labs to digital nomads, freelancers, and emerging startups. All linked to technology, entrepreneurship, talent, or investment, they are at the heart of the model that drives a digital and connected economy that shapes Valencia’s future with a global reach.
